Confirmation

Preparing for a Life of Faith

Confirmation is a special time at Trinity where the 6th grader class learns about the foundations of Christian theology, what it means to be a member of the Church, and what Methodist Christians believe. At the end of the confirmation year, many students opt to be baptized and join the church as individual members.

Confirmation Year-at-a-Glance

Confirmands meet during the school year on Sundays at 10 am for lessons and Wednesdays from 6-7pm for life application. Confirmands have their very own classroom, Room 112 in the lower hall of the Adult Classroom Wing.

On Sunday evenings, Confirmands are invited to participate in Youth activities in the Youth Wing (off the Gym).

The Confirmation year ends in May with a special Banquet & Confirmation Service on a Saturday evening. At this time, many students opt to be baptized and join the church as individual members. The following Sunday, Confirmation graduates are presented to the church at each Confirmand's regular worship service.

Special Confirmation Events

Confirmation at Trinity is a year-long journey supported by mentors who walk alongside confirmands, meeting regularly at Coffee House gatherings, chatting monthly, and building meaningful connections.

Confirmands serve as Acolytes in our 9am traditional worship, bringing in the light of Christ to begin the service and carrying it out at the end—symbolizing Christ leading us into the world.

A special Trinity tradition includes preparing and presenting the Ashes for our Ash Wednesday service. Leading up to that, confirmands learn about Lent, the symbolism of palm fronds, and the meaning behind the ashes.

Throughout the year, they participate in Serve Days, team-building at the OWL Center, birthday and holiday celebrations, and our annual Hanging of the Greens service. A church-wide scavenger hunt also helps them explore the church and understand how it serves God's work.
