Worship Arts

Created to Praise

Throughout the year, several special music performances are held as part of worship, including a Christmas Cantata, Celebration Ringers bell choir and Jazz Sunday led by The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra.

Advent Season

The season of Advent, which begins the church calendar each year on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, is a special time of reflection, preparation and waiting for the celebration of Christ’s birth and expected Second Coming.

We begin the season with Hanging of the Greens on the first Sunday of Advent, a tradition where our high school seniors and 6th grade confirmands lead in the decoration of our sanctuary for the Christmas season. Together, we sing beloved Christmas hymns, hear liturgical readings and enjoy lighting the first candle—Hope—of the Advent wreath. On the remaining Sundays of Advent, we light additional candles for Love, Joy and Peace, and then on Christmas Eve we light the final candle, called the Christ candle.

During the Advent season our chancel choir presents a special Christmas Cantata and each Christmas Eve we host special candlelight services.

We also hold special family events and activities during Advent, including a Nativity Skit and Angel Breakfast, as well as special outreach opportunities, such as collecting gifts for area foster children and Life Choices, Ruston’s pregnancy care center.

Spring Season

The Spring season at Trinity begins in January with 21 Days of Prayer. We gather throughout January early each morning for deep, directed prayer as we seek God’s guidance into the new year.

An evening Ash Wednesday service opens the forty days of Lent, where congregants are encouraged to embark on a season of prayer and fasting to reflect on Jesus’ crucifixion, leading up to Holy Week and Easter.

To close out the Spring season at Trinity, each May our graduating high schoolers are honored at Senior Sunday and our 6th grade Confirmands are honored with a special banquet and service.

Fall Season

Students and teachers enter the school year with encouragement through Blessings of the Backpacks, a special time of prayer held at a worship service held early in the school year. Then, at a worship service a bit later in the school year, we have Third Grade Bible Presentations to equip and encourage our emerging readers to dive into God’s word.

On the first Sunday in November, we reflect on those who have gone on to glory with All Saints' Sunday.
